Infidelity (Continued)
by Rochelle Hayward, L.C.S.W.-C

The best time to seek counsel is before an affair. It is important to deal with the marital dissatisfaction, instead of escaping and going to someone else. There is a false belief that if one spouse feels incomplete, another person can complete them. Therapy can assist with the process of learning to achieve completion through your own life, your work, and your own individual emotional and spiritual growth. In a marriage relationship it is important that each spouse reach fulfillment as individuals, as well as in their marriage. Through this individuation process each partner becomes whole and can then be more intimate with their spouse sharing in happiness rather than depending on another to provide it.
